Monthly Review for Central Government Finances 8/2022

The central government’s deficit has continued to shrink with the strong growth in revenues. At the end of August, the income of the budget economy was EUR 40,639 million (EUR 36,207 million 8/2021). The biggest growth was in earnings and capital tax revenues (EUR 2,005 million, 28%) and corporation tax revenues (EUR 996 million, 44%). Expenditures were at the level of the previous year, being EUR 37,294 million (EUR 37,312 million) at the end of August. The central government’s interest expenses, on the other hand, have grown strongly compared to the previous year.
